M3 Media Arts Process
I think that with any project you create, there is a process that you go through. You have an idea, you think about what it takes to make this idea happen and plan for it, then you do it. This is my process for creating anything, it always has been and it probably always will be. I usually think of some rough idea for how I am going to put something together and just start. I am Queen Procrastinator and I do everything last minute. I could have 20 years to complete an assignment and I will still do it at the last minute.
The most important part of the process is the 'how' part: How am I going to put this project together? This is limited by three things: what I know how to do, what I can learn from the Internet and what is so far over my head that I shouldn't even attempt. More often than not, I figure out 'how' as I go, which has made me able to problem solve very quickly.
Below is the process shown in the Frick textbook:
- Information Architecture
- Define Media Elements
- Define Naming Conventions
- Define Directory Structure
- Create your Flowchart/Logic Chart
- Create Wire Frames
- Define Possible Future Content Structures

M3 Script Writing
The Story of the Boy Who Cared Too Little
There is a point in everyone’s life
where something happens, where life changes and you began to see things differently.
School becomes work, partying is now
catching up on some extra rest to cope with your new hectic schedule. After
school activities are now working some over time to pay the bills, but not everyone
makes this transition easily as I did. By the age 18 I had already worked 5
jobs all ending in the same result “you are fired” or “you are permanently laid
off.”
Having
failure in life is not all bad. I believe in the saying its only a mistake if
you don’t fix it so I did it, but not without the great advice I was given by a
man I worked with, Eric Novosat. Now I show
up to work early, work harder and sometimes stay late to get the job done and
make my boss happy. It did not happen overnight. I gave up the partying and
staying up til the late hours of the night. finally realizing that with hard work
and dedication you can achieve anything whether it be receiving that raise you
have been wanting because people will notice or increase your standard of
living a great amount. Now I am much more happy and I feel more stable now that I
have a steady career.
Script: The
day I realized there were changes to be made
Characters: Ryan, Eric, Ron
Plot: Ryan
learns that his job is in jeopardy and if he does not decide to make changes he
will no longer be employed with this company he very much enjoys working with
Scenes: Scene 1- late again
Scene
2-The return
Scene 1-Late Again
Ryan has been up all night at a club
downtown on this Thursday night and was unable to wake up on time for work and
shows up 3 hours late .
Characters: Ryan, Ron
[Ryan walks into the shop and sees Ron
sitting at his desk fixing the mistakes Ryan had made yesterday while he was
working]
Ron: What happened late again?
Ryan: I know this is inexcusable.
Ron: I was going to let you work today
and fix your mistakes but not after I see the carelessness you have towards
this job.
[Ryan standing there dumbfounded.]
Ron: I don’t like what I’m seeing. Therefore
I am going to give you five days suspension.
[End Scene.]
Scene 2- The Return
Characters: Ryan, Eric
[Ryan once again returns to work an
hour early after his suspension]
Eric: Hey Ryan how’s it going how was
your vacation
Ryan: [Ryan sighs] It was good I guess I did a lot
of thinking.
Eric: You know Ron was pretty fired up
that day I would hate to see you get fired
Ryan: Yes im sure he was all this made
me realize how good I have it here and how much I would like to stay here
Eric: Sounds like you need to get your priorities together and figure out what is more important; your job or this path of
destruction you are on.
Ryan: I know, I know it will not happen
again
Eric: I would hope not because now you
are under Ron's radar and if anything of that sort happens again he won’t think
twice about firing you.
Ryan: Right I guess the only way I can
prove to Ron is to show him by being punctual and paying more attention to
detail in my work
[End Scene.]

M3 Sound Assignment
BEFORE PLAYING THE VIDEO please note that I couldn't figure out another way to upload my sound project on blogger. I used trakAxPC (which is supposed to be like Garage Band for PC) to create my sound project. The program was pretty easy to use, but there is supposed to be a feature to upload straight to youtube but it didn't work. Next, I tried to host my project on Sound Cloud and use an embedded code, but that didn't work either. Then, I uploaded my sound into Movie Maker and the program won't let you upload sound until you insert a picture, so I just used some of the pictures that came on my laptop. The pictures have absolutely nothing to do with my sound project, I just thought it might be more interesting to look at instead of a blank screen. If anyone knows of better way to upload audio to blogger, please let me know.
Moving on to the assignment, I wanted to create something that sounds like my house when I get home from work. Usually, I'm on my laptop in my room listening to music and checking email, Facebook, and things like that. In the background, there is usually the dishwasher or washing machine is going, my dog is barking and walking around, and my mom and stepdad are walking around doing stuff. I downloaded all the sounds from www.freesound.org.
